Microsoft’s third Windows Phones update is scheduled to be launched on May 3 2011, focussing on the freshly found security issue which makes users of WP7 mobile phones vulnerable to phishing attacks or content spoofing. The update is explained as a security certificate fix terminating loopholes in third-party certificates issued by Comodo.
Microsoft confessed the security problem at the end of March, but only after certification authority Comodo acquainted them that nine certificates had been signed “without appropriately approving” the concerned third-party identity. Comodo retract the certificates, and Microsoft unleashed a patch for desktop adaptations of its Internet Explorer browser.
Nevertheless, this left the variant of IE on Windows Phones 7 handsets not fixed. It is still not clear that whether this update will be available via the Zune software just like the two former firmware changes or it will be delivered direct to the handsets.
